Dear Diary,
Why is it that the last 3 consecutive entries are all uploaded by me ? I thought this was supposed to be a joint effort huh? Wake up your bl***y ideas leh!
Anyway, back to this week's entry. I know if I continue to complain about my life in camp its going to be super boring but besides talking about such things I really got nothing else to share here. Besides, the idea of this joint blog to allow us poor souls who spend 71.4% of their time in army camps to shed some light on some of the interesting events that happened behind the metal gates of the camps. If you are here expecting to see what new toys our army has purchased, you are at the wrong place. Over here, we focus more on the interesting odd events that happened in camp which we can relate to the outside world.
Towards the end of last week, the heads of the various platoons came over to pay us a surprise visit. Initially, we thought it was just another "bonding" session but it turns out to be something we dread the most. They were here for a headhunting session. Throughout the course, they were already in the shadows observing us from the dark and picking their prey to join the various platoons.
To make it less confusing, let me share abit on the structure of the system. Over here, most of us will be going to these 3 platoons. Althought all 3 will be xiong until out of this world, but there is this platoon that is outstanding different from the rest. Why ? it is managed by a ******. An overly enthu and garang soilder as compared to the bosses of the other 2 platoons. Sad to say, one of us will be working alongside this madman from next next week onwards until he ORD. Having said so much earlier, here comes the main point of this entry.
Lets call this ******, J. When it was J's turn to do the publicity stunt for his platoon, as usual no one "expressed interest" to work under him. Then he started to shortlist a few to become his chosen one. This is where the ugly side of humans was revealed. Everyone started to sabo one another hoping that he himself will not end up as the chosen one. I do admit I was bearing tat evil thought as well. But seriously, being the chosen one is really no joke man. Not only will burn weekends and its not going to be hell lot of fun. At that point, i was like everyone else, only interested in pointing my finger out and just praying that I wont be the one.
That night, i reflected on my actions and felt that I did in the room was so wrong. Althought it was a very gentleman act of standing up and speaking politely to J that I cant afford to join him but its the thought of hoping that one suay guy will face this shit alone instead of myself is sinful. It really is every man for himself in this world. I know its not within my power to change the rules of this cruel game called life but maybe the least I could have done is to shutup, not allowing those nasty thoughts to wander in my mind and just let nature takes its course. After thinking so much, teaming up with Mr J until feb 2008 doesn't feel that bad as it seems. As much as I hate to suffer but someone has got to do the dirty job right ? I'm not that noble yet la but I'm mentally prepared to block this fatal arrow for my fellow friends.
我不入地狱谁入地狱。
I dun understand why the chinese words cant show up on my com but anyway it stands for "wo bu ru di yu, shei ru di yu."
I will be going for a x-ray scan on my knee tmr. Hope its nothing serious. Till next weekend, have fun to all!
